Cebu, Mindanao and Ilocos products available in Panagbenga Festival 2010 Trade Fair

Native products from Cebu, Mindanao and Ilocos region are among the items with the highest sales in various trade fairs in the on-going Baguio Flower Festival 2010 according to The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Art Tibaldo, DTI information officer, said this was determined since last year and “it remains the same in the Market Encounter of the Panagbenga Festival 2010.” Among the saleable products of Cebu are preserved mango and other tropical fruits; while the fresh and processed durian like candies from Mindanao area take a big percentage in daily sales. The Philippine Department of Tourism welcomes once more the cast and crew of “Survivor Israel,” the Israeli franchise of the hit American TV reality game show “Survivor” in the Caramoan Peninsula in the province of Camarines Sur.

After filming one edition of Hisardot (Survivor) last year, the production outfit is back in the Gota Village Resort in Caramoan to film another edition of the tv show starting this February, with the program to be telecast in Israel until early June of this year. Continue Reading

Camelot on the Lake – a fine entertainment on Baguio’s Valentine’s Day

Baguio City tourism officer Benny Alhambra on Monday said that the first edition of “Camelot on the Lake” was able to provide a unique entertainment to visitors and residents Sunday night as they celebrated Valentines Day.

He estimated more than 2,000 who watched the musical play of artists at the center of Burnham Park lagoon which was actually one of the new features of the on-going Baguio Flower Festival known as “Panagbenga”.

Baler in Aurora Province : a fast-rising local travel destination

This capital and oldest town of the province has been named the fastest-rising local travel destination during Google’s most-searched items in the Philippines in 2009.

Alipio Tuzon, executive assistant of Governor Bellaflor Angara-Castillo, said this capital town emerged on top of the list of local travel destinations that include the Amana Resort (Pandi, Bulacan), Acuatico Beach Resort (San Juan, Batangas), Coron Palawan, Anawangin Cove (San Antonio Zambales) El Nido (Palawan) and 8 Waves Resort and Eco Park (San Rafael, Bulacan)

Tuzon said Baler’s new-found status as a potential tourism mecca was apparently spurred by the movie shown in late 2008 starring Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales which showcased this town as a surfer’s paradise. Continue Reading

My favorite movie Kailangan Kita (I Need You) was shown on PBO recently. Claudine Barreto and Aga Muhlach were right on the money. Not only did they justify their lead roles, they likewise made perfect partners in promoting tourism in Bicol, where the film was entirely shot. Most scenes visited me, reminding me of the wonderful memories I have of my Sorsogon-Albay sojourn a few summers back—courtesy of Cebu Holiday Tours and Travel’s Ricky Tio.

The journey from Cebu to Masbate to Sorsogon seemed eternal. But all the stress paid off when I arrived in Donsol town, province of Sorsogon, excited to have the first leg of my tour which was the Butanding interaction. Continue Reading

The Global Heritage Fund Mission is a distinguished non-profit conservation group that provides assistance to developing countries in preserving their cultural heritage sites.

Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano and GHF International Conservation Director John Hurd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Friday at the Ilustrados Restaurant in Intramuros to formally commence the working partnership. Continue Reading
