A ranking official of the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation (BFFF) on Thursday confirmed that the on-going 15th edition of the event called “Panagbenga” is among the most successful within a period of more than a decade.
Anthony de Leon, also a local tourism council officer said that “It is not self-serving for us to say that the visitors last weekend almost doubled the usual crowd during street dancing and floral parade.”
Earlier, media groups estimated that the visitors here during the weekend numbered more than one million –the total crowd for a month in the previous years.
The event will end on March 7 with the closing rites of the two big trade fairs participated in by outstanding export products manufacturers in the country including one firm from Thailand.
De Leon said that the closing rites Sunday night will be capped by “Flowers from the Sky” when at least seven sites in the city will have grand fireworks display.
