Take me Away!

This is the season for vacation and for millions of people, vacation means travelling. We’re not just talking about state hopping to visit friends and family – some people pack their bags and with their families in tow, abscond to whole other countries. Why the need to travel? Because for a lot of us, the hovering question of what life is like for other people, is not going to be satiated by looking at pictures online or specialty programming on the television.

Men (and women) have always wanted to escape to the unknown and experience lifestyles to which they may not be accustomed. Travelling for leisure or on vacation rather is a wonderful experience not just for fun and building memories but it is w great way to educate you children. You have to be mature and keep your wits about you, be responsible and mindful of your surroundings. Kawasan Falls in Cebu : one of 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world

The now famous one –liner catch phrase: “It’s more fun in the Philippines” continued to score in the tourism world as Yahoo Travel tagged the Enchanted Kawasan Falls in Cebu as one of the world’s ten most beautiful waterfalls.

Yahoo described the three Enchanted Kawasan Falls as “surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and hidden between the mountainous peaks of Barangay Matutinao and Badian” on the island of Cebu, a good 55-minute by plane from Manila. Continue Reading

Its more fun in the Philippines campaign ‘spread like wildfire’

The Department of Tourism’s (DOT) “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign was able to reach a wide audience with little cost to the government, a senior tourism official said.

Domingo Ramon Enerio III, DOT assistant secretary for tourism planning and officer-in-charge of the Tourism Promotions Board, said the campaign is still in its early days but the catchphrase has spread “like wildfire.”

”It has become a people’s campaign,” he said.

Enerio said the simple truth about the Filipino people is the secret to its success, saying the campaign’s message is easy to understand, speaks the truth about the Filipino culture and makes the locals proud.

Philippine Department of Tourism opens summer fun in Boracay, strengthens safety and security drive for tourists

The Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Municipality of Malay jointly inaugurated today the Boracay Tourist Information and Assistance Centre (BTIAC) to better address the various information, safety, and security concerns of tourists.

Secretary Jimenez inaugurates Boracay Island’s new submarine water pipeline

Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez led the inauguration of the one-kilometer submarine water pipeline along the Caticlan-Boracay channel that will augment the existing 13-year old pipeline supplying water to Boracay from mainland Malay town. The P126-M submarine pipe, constructed by Boracay Island Water Company (BIWC), a subsidiary of Manila Water Company, the East Zone concessionaire of Metro Manila, is intended to further improve the island’s water supply.

Jimenez’s presence in Boracay brings to fore pressing development issues plaguing the island such as zoning and environmental concerns. He took positive note of the improvements in water supply and wastewater management since BIWC started operations in 2009. The island now enjoys better water supply, with 96% of the population now having 24/7 water service. The quality of tap water has also improved significantly, with 100% compliance with the stringent parameters of the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water. Continue Reading

Philippine Department of Tourism to launch Its More Fun the Philippines in international travel fest in Berlin

Secretary of Tourism Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. leaves for Germany this week to lead a 41-man delegation from the Philippines that will participate in the annual International Tourismus Bourse (ITB), the world’s largest travel trade show. Scheduled on March 7-11, 2012 in Berlin, ITB includes booth exhibits of national and local tourist offices, travel-related companies and other service providers.

“Our participation in ITB this year is quite significant because it’s the first time for us to roll out the ‘It’s more fun in the Philippines’ campaign in a global event,” Jimenez said. He added, “About half of the travel business is traded through the international travel bourse.” The tourism chief explained that the ITB is institutional among travel wholesalers where direct selling and networking is done. Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival 2012 kicks off at Puerto Galera

The Philippine Department of Tourism and the local government units of Puerto Galera and Oriental Mindoro extend support to the organizers of the 2nd Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival. Led by Mr. Hubert d’ Aboville, President of the Chamber of Commerce in European Union, this years celebration is expected to out-stage its initial run that lured in more than 1,500 tourists in 2011.

17th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

The Organizers of the 17th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2012 (PIHABF) have developed this annual event to be the largest spectator event in the Philippines. Each year, bigger and better events, competitions and attractions are added to the Fiesta. The Fiesta site at Air Force City, Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, Clark Field has been enlarged to cope with the expected 100,000 visitors who will attend the coming Fiesta 9-12 February, 2012.
