Cebu, Mindanao and Ilocos products available in Panagbenga Festival 2010 Trade Fair

Guitars from Cebu

Native products from Cebu, Mindanao and Ilocos region are among the items with the highest sales in various trade fairs in the on-going Baguio Flower Festival 2010 according to The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Art Tibaldo, DTI information officer, said this was determined since last year and “it remains the same in the Market Encounter of the Panagbenga Festival 2010.” Among the saleable products of Cebu are preserved mango and other tropical fruits; while the fresh and processed durian like candies from Mindanao area take a big percentage in daily sales. Baler in Aurora Province : a fast-rising local travel destination

Surfing in Baler

This capital and oldest town of the province has been named the fastest-rising local travel destination during Google’s most-searched items in the Philippines in 2009.

Alipio Tuzon, executive assistant of Governor Bellaflor Angara-Castillo, said this capital town emerged on top of the list of local travel destinations that include the Amana Resort (Pandi, Bulacan), Acuatico Beach Resort (San Juan, Batangas), Coron Palawan, Anawangin Cove (San Antonio Zambales) El Nido (Palawan) and 8 Waves Resort and Eco Park (San Rafael, Bulacan)

Tuzon said Baler’s new-found status as a potential tourism mecca was apparently spurred by the movie shown in late 2008 starring Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales which showcased this town as a surfer’s paradise. Continue reading Baler in Aurora Province : a fast-rising local travel destination

Bicol’s Beckoning Beauty

Mayon Volcano in Albay

By Ariel Allosada Allera

My favorite movie Kailangan Kita (I Need You) was shown on PBO recently. Claudine Barreto and Aga Muhlach were right on the money. Not only did they justify their lead roles, they likewise made perfect partners in promoting tourism in Bicol, where the film was entirely shot. Most scenes visited me, reminding me of the wonderful memories I have of my Sorsogon-Albay sojourn a few summers back—courtesy of Cebu Holiday Tours and Travel’s Ricky Tio.

The journey from Cebu to Masbate to Sorsogon seemed eternal. But all the stress paid off when I arrived in Donsol town, province of Sorsogon, excited to have the first leg of my tour which was the Butanding interaction. Continue reading Bicol’s Beckoning Beauty
