Cebu, Mindanao and Ilocos products available in Panagbenga Festival 2010 Trade Fair

Native products from Cebu, Mindanao and Ilocos region are among the items with the highest sales in various trade fairs in the on-going Baguio Flower Festival 2010 according to The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Art Tibaldo, DTI information officer, said this was determined since last year and “it remains the same in the Market Encounter of the Panagbenga Festival 2010.” Among the saleable products of Cebu are preserved mango and other tropical fruits; while the fresh and processed durian like candies from Mindanao area take a big percentage in daily sales.

From the Ilocos region, the saleable native products include the “tinubong” (a glutinous rice delicacy placed inside a fresh bamboo), sugarcane wine and vinegar and fried corn.

All of these products were greatly improved in the last eight years through the One Town, One Product, a national livelihood program launched by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. “This is the reason why that our own trade fair Impakabsat where we sell native Cordillera products is done in Metro Manila where they were determined to be enjoying great patronage from the residents,” Tibaldo explained. 1. The guitar image caught my attention. When I was in college, I bought a guitar from Cebu. Can’t recall the store–:( Pero sure ako, sila gumawa.
