Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez led the inauguration of the one-kilometer submarine water pipeline along the Caticlan-Boracay channel that will augment the existing 13-year old pipeline supplying water to Boracay from mainland Malay town. The P126-M submarine pipe, constructed by Boracay Island Water Company (BIWC), a subsidiary of Manila Water Company, the East Zone concessionaire of Metro Manila, is intended to further improve the island’s water supply.

Boracay Island
Jimenez’s presence in Boracay brings to fore pressing development issues plaguing the island such as zoning and environmental concerns. He took positive note of the improvements in water supply and wastewater management since BIWC started operations in 2009. The island now enjoys better water supply, with 96% of the population now having 24/7 water service. The quality of tap water has also improved significantly, with 100% compliance with the stringent parameters of the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water. Continue Reading

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. lauds the good gesture of Sotero Canonoy, a taxi driver who surrendered a bag left by three male German tourists whom he ferried from SM Mall of Asia to NAIA Terminal 1 on March 23 at about 10:00 PM.

Its More Fun in the Philippines
“This is one happy piece of news that we need to hear more of. Mr. Canonoy’s action exemplifies the innate goodness of our countrymen. It gives support to the positive image we wish to portray through our “It’s more fun in the Philippines” campaign. We want to highlight these good news as normal than unusual,” Jimenez enthused. The slogan “It’s more fun in the Philippines” stays even if there was a black and white vintage 1951 magazine ad “It’s more fun in Switzerland,” of the Swiss National Tourist Office.

Its more fun in the Philippines
Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez declared it as a ‘coincidence,’ saying, “C’mon, you have to give BBDO more credit than that. The line isn’t a manufactured slogan. It is simply the truth about our country. Don’t be swayed by people who are trying to punch holes in it… Continue Reading

If you want to know the best companies in a particular industry then the best way to go about this is to ask their customers what they think of the service and to see whether or not they would recommend that particular company to others.

This is just what holiday Extras have done but they have done it on a much grander scale!
This year 66,000 people have voted in the Holiday Extras Customer Awards (which is great as this last year about a third of this number were voting).
This year the awards were held in London on September 15th and were hosted by the well-known travel writer and radio presenter Simon Calder. Continue Reading

The Department of Tourism’s recently approved budget of P1.7 billion for this year until 2012 is not enough to support all of its projects and campaigns but the department will judiciously make do with what it has to fulfill its role.
