Philippine Department of Tourism taps Korean market via trade fairs, joint promos

The Department of Tourism (DOT) will continue to build on the industry-leading Korean tourist market with its participation in the 14th Busan International Travel Fair (BITF) on 02-05 September, as well as other joint promotional activities.

New direct and charter air services have been crucial in maintaining the upward trend, as have been our fruitful efforts in trade fairs where we have received much positive feedback. China Travel Industry Hails the Philippines as “Best Honeymoon Destination of the Year”

The Philippines was hailed the “Honeymoon Destination of the Year” in the 2011 China Travel and Meetings Industry Awards, affirming the confidence of Chinese industry executives in the Philippines as a destination for Chinese tourists, according to the Philippine Embassy in Beijing.

The Philippines bested Bali and Thailand in a voting process that garnered 4.2 million votes by members of the industry during almost two months of voting period in July and August 2010. Philippine Department of Tourism and Mini Stop promo in Japan

The Department of Tourism (DOT) office in Tokyo and Mini Stop, a major convenience store chain in Japan, recently launched “Hello Summer Campaign 2011” aimed at promoting travel to the Philippines during the summer months in the said country.

The campaign includes promos called “Answer the Quiz and Win!” and “Eat Halo Halo and Tropical Sweets and Win!” which were run on 19 July and to end on 01 August 2011. A three-night-four-day trip to Cebu will be won by five lucky couples for the first promo while 300 halo-halo original roller bags and 100 Kyobashi Senbikiya fruit sets will be for the winners of the second contest. Philippine Department of Tourism promotes Puerto Princesa Underground River as the Philippines’ bet to the New 7 Wonders of Nature

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is in the forefront in campaigning for the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) as the Philippines’ bet to the New 7 Wonders of Nature (N7WN).

In the next months, the DOT will conduct familiarization trips for the media and produce an episode in a produce an episode in a travel program in TV, to encourage media friends and countrymen to spread the word about the campaign and the natural wonder of the PPUR. Philippine Department of Tourism shortlists bidders in the design of the Philippine Country Brand

The Department of Tourism’s Special Bids and Awards Committee (SBAC) announced this morning the seven (7) top bidders who successfully met the strict criteria for the formulation of a Philippine country brand. A total of 26 companies heeded the government’s call for the submission of brand design bids to the DOT SBAC.

The eligible bidders will be given two months to prepare their campaigns for pitching to the DOT’s SBAC. After the selection of a final winning agency, that agency has two months to finalize its work and to deliver the final package composed of a branding manual, audiovisual presentation, and print and TV ad designs before end-November. See airports in a different light

Not many people enjoy airports enough. They’re actually pretty great places, it’s just nobody takes the time to notice. Most airport buildings are beautifully designed, all panel glass and stylish curves. Take Heathrow’s new Terminal 5, it’s a spectacular building but nobody seems to see that. Why is this? I’d vouch for the fact that the stress and strain of departure day is getting in the way.

150 years ago, the Philippines national here, Jose Rizal was born and to celebrate this wonderful event, people are planning parties, parades, and other celebrations. The National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) is doing its part too.

Jose Rizal was put to death by the Spanish in what is now called either Luneta Park or Rizal Park. A monument in the park marks the spot and the NPDC is putting in an all out effort to make the park shine by cleaning statues, collecting trash, adding in new buildings, and making the gardens wonderful. Benguet eco-tourism draws hundreds of visitors

Baguio City Councilor Pinky Rondez on Tuesday observed that Benguet Province’s eco-tourism drew hundreds of visitors during the recent Holy Week.

The local tourism leader said that Benguet’s eco-tourism campaign focused on the attractiveness of its mountains, springs, dams and waterfalls.

“Several families spent days of picnics at forests in Bokod town overlooking the giant Ambuclao Dam, others went to savor the medicinal hot springs and swimming pools of Asin, Tuba, Benguet; others found their way climbing Mount Ugo and Mount Pulag in Mankayan; while the rest enjoyed the natural swimming pools of Itogon, Benguet,” Rondez observed.
