Palawan’s private island looks for ecotourism partners

Palawan never runs out of beautiful islands with breathtaking scenery and natural fresh air that comes with unspoiled environment.

But investments seem slow in coming because of the current economic downtrend or slow recovery of most countries worldwide.

Still, there is a growing market for exclusive travelers or luxury tourists in search for unusual places and spots that are not yet too commercialized.

In view of this new ecotourism trend, the owners of Arena Island, a four-hectare private island in the coastal municipality of Narra, Palawan, are inviting interested investors to join them in exploring the potential of this one-of-a kind island that will let visitors sail off the beaten-path.

Arena Island is a private island which is a joint pioneering effort by communications leader and businessman Louie Morales and Palawan-born engineer Fuji Rodriguez.

According to them, “We are looking for business partners who could join us in realizing our vision for Arena Island – that is, for it to be the premier ecotourism destination in Palawan, or simply the best place to experience the raw beauty and serenity of nature while enjoying luxurious and personalized service.” Continue reading Palawan’s private island looks for ecotourism partners

Malay local council to regulate tour-guiding operations in Boracay

The Malay Aklan local council is geared into regulating the tour guide operations in this resort island.  Councilor Jupiter Gallenero, a former broadcaster of Bombo Radio, said that several freelance tour guides in this resort island have been deceiving both foreign and local tourists, giving this resort island a negative impression.

“Fake tour guides are asking for down payment for their probable clients but upon payment many of them fail to show up during the scheduled service,” said Gallenero.

Part of the regulations is to identify who among the tour guides in Boracay are legitimate and who are not. Existence of the fake tour guides have been a perennial problem by many stakeholders here.
